405 ODM-HS Optical Height Stand System

	Thanks to the new *405 ODM-HS* (Optical Depth Measuring Height Stand), previously difficult to measure internal and external depth dimensions can now be easily and accurately measured optically. This very practical gage utilizes a SIGHT-PIPE® Optical viewer, a Boreview™ with 10X magnification, a focusing “crosshair” reticle, a Mitutoyo™ Digimatic Micrometer head (measuring Z axis movement), and adjustable fiber optic illumination.
The Datum and each characteristic to be measured, is located by raising or lowering the SIGHT-PIPE® within the part to be measured by cranking the handle on the digital micrometer head. The micrometer can be set to read both Absolute or Relative positions within it's measured movement range. The inspector looks through the eyepiece of the gage and superimposes the cross hair over each respective edge (illustration shown above right).

The ABS/REL (absolute/relative) mode capability of the Mitutoyo™ Digimatic micrometer head then makes it possible to measure the distance from the Datum to a characteristic or from characteristic to characteristic by turning the handle to raise or lower the gage. In essence, the gage functions as a height stand with an optical positioner rather than a surface contact probe.

Each 405 ODM-HS gage comes standard with an adjustable multi-position stop post for the “X” axis fixture guide plate positioning system. A diamond and round locating pin arrangement at the system base adds even more flexibility for changing and adapting fixturing between multiple parts and families of parts if necessary.

The 405 ODM-HS gage is the ideal solution for difficult to gage internal depth dimensions requiring a reading involving a chamfered edge on an internal groove or surface like those found in many types of nozzles, injectors, and valves or other related devices.
