NEW-360View™ TUBE WELD

The new 360 View™Tube Weld SIGHT-PIPE® allows inspectors to view the entire circumference of the internal welded bead without rotating the SIGHT-PIPE® or welded component.

View 360 degrees of your internal orbital welded tube bead at the same time, in the same view.

Monochrome image is shown at right.

To help you better understand the view you are seeing, we have highlighted edges of the the images with different colors. The weld bead top edge is red while the weld bead bottom edge is accented in blue. The green edge is the outside viewing diameter of the SIGHT-PIPE® head, while the yellow edge highlights the non-viewing SIGHT-PIPE® thread area. The very center yellow diameter is the thread on the SIGHT-PIPE® shank ID which is necessary to attach the pilot to the SIGHT-PIPE®.

The SIGHT-PIPE® Locator Gage combines the principles of a Depth Gage SIGHT-PIPEâ SIGHT-PIPEâ and a radial location feature to give inspectors a quick and easy way to visually check internal locations and sizes of "cross holes" and other characteristics found on the inside diameter of a bored hole.

The gage shown is used to inspect a "rocker arm" (automotive engine component) to check the internal break out location and size of the oil holes. These holes are drilled at long, unusual angular positions subject to "drifting" or misalignment.

The Locator Gage locates on the piece part radially via a diamond locating pin inserted into another rocker arm bored hole. The operator then looks through the top of the gage to see that the position of the break out hole is within the reticle limits.

This particular application uses a square reticle to determine if the internal oil hole is within limits (inside the internal edges of all four lines) on it’s depth dimension, radial position and drilled hole size within the bore.

This gage utilizes a hard coated aluminum housing to protect the SIGHT-PIPEâ and special lenses used to increase magnification. A full size fiber optic illuminator with adjustable intensity allows all inspectors using the gages to "dial in" their personal lighting preference.

These gages are custom designed and manufactured for each particular application. Contact us to find out about how a SIGHT-PIPEâ Locator Gage can help you and your company speed inspection and increase product quality.
